Fuels in Coast Redwood

Live and dead fuels can increase in the absense of fire. As changes in fuel can alter fire behavior and the risk of tree mortality, understanding them is an important part of coast redwood forest management.
Research by Humboldt State University's Morgan Varner and his graduate student Brad Graham addresses the pattern of coarse woody fuel across the northern coast redwood range.
